The Rotary Great Race 2011

The Rotary Great Race is NOT the Great Race of 30 years ago, but rather a “reinvented” family fun event designed to raise money for the many philanthropic programs supported by the Marblehead Rotary Club.

The Open Water Race is a 7+ mile event starting and finishing at Devereux Beach in Marblehead. Most human powered, non-motorized crafts are eligibile to race (exceptions no swimmers, no sailboats). Both serious racers and casually oriented participants are allowed and encouraged.

OR, if you're not a water person, join us for the Fun Walk around Marblehead Neck. Power walk, leisurely walk, or stroll – whatever you choose. Great fun for the whole family (treasure hunt included) and yes, there are family discounts. Come a little early and cheer on the start of the water racers while you prepare for your walk, and stay a little late to enjoy an activities-filled day at the beach, with games and entertainment. Patrick Runne of Bedrock Music will be our Master of Ceremonies and our headlining performers will be local a cappella group Overboard.

Rubber Duck RegattaRounding up the day will be Marblehead Rotary's famous Rubber Duck Regatta which will feature one thousand rubber ducks racing through a man-made 160 foot “racing pond” inside the Devereux Beach pavilion. A fast, fun and furious race for young and old! Buy a duck, cheer it on, & win prizes!
