Rotary’s commitment to humanitarian service is in evidence in virtually every corner of the world. With 33,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas, Rotary promotes peace and understanding by addressing the underlying causes of conflict and violence, such as poverty, illiteracy, hunger, and disease. Rotary’s 1.2 million club members are women and men who are business, professional, and community leaders united by the motto "Service Above Self".
The Rotary Club of Marblehead has met continually since it held its first meeting in May of 1923. Membership has continued strong, and the club has supported community programs, scholarships, camperships, and assisted around the world during times of crisis to help adults and children in need. This local club stands committed to making the future brighter for generations to come. Club focus for 2011 is helping children: locally, nationally and internationally.
